Transfer Students
We welcome students from all types of colleges and universities to
apply to The Catholic University of America. As a national university
in Washington, DC we have transfer students from all across the U.S.
You can apply as a candidate for transfer admissions if you hold a high
school diploma (or its equivalent) and have completed a minimum of 12
credit hours at an accredited college or university. Please note if
you have completed a Bachelor's degree at another institution and would
like to attend CUA for a 2nd degree please see the link below for 2nd
degree students.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Now you can pay your application fee online. - Statement of Intent
As a transfer student your statement of intent should be 1-2 pages long. You will want to write about why you want to transfer to CUA, your goals, any struggles or success you have had as a student, etc. Any aspect or experience you think CUA should know about you as a student and person.
- Official Transcripts
Contact your high school and request an official transcript. This is required regardless of your high school graduation date. Transfer applicants must also submit one official transcript from all colleges and universities attended. - Recommendation Letter
Be sure to include at least one letter of recommendation.
- Certification of Good Standing
Transfer applicants are required to submit a certification of good standing along with their application. They can submit any of the following: 1) Common Application's College Official's Report, 2) CUA's Certification of Good Standing form, OR 3) a letter of good standing from your dean of students, academic adviser, registrar, etc., stating that you are in good academic standing, are eligible to return to the institution, and an explanation of any disciplinary actions. One of these forms needs to be mailed to CUA Office of Undergraduate Admissions directly from the college official. Click here to download this form.
- SAT/ACT Scores
Scores are required for those who have completed less than 24 credits at the college level. If you have 24 graded credits on your college transcript these scores will be waived.

Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis.
*All applicants are encouraged to submit their completed application as soon as possible to allow adequate time for the transcript evaluation.
**Transfer students can not apply for the School of Nursing due to the structure of studies and space availability; only Second Degree applicants are considered.
