TESTIMONIALS

Class of 2008
Politics Major
The Catholic faith on this campus is what defines our
school, we are The Catholic University of America. Ours
is not an ordinary faith, it is a unity of all different
backgrounds coming together under one banner, the banner
of God, to proclaim His good word. It is not required
to participate in the faith, but every time I am astonished
that there is never a seat empty. People in other universities
gain their identity in greek life, sports; out identity
is our faith, and the pride we have in saying that "We
are THE Catholic University of America" |

Lots of colleges are in cities, lots have a good reputation
for graduating qualified workers. A lot of schools have
professors who take the time to get to know their students.
Catholic University has all of these, along with a commitment
to justice that permeates everything that happens here.
In my four years, I have learned so much about what it
means to be a faith-filled person, and a faith-filled
citizen. CUA has taught me how to take the teachings of
Christ, and apply them to everything I do - rigorous academic
work, professionalism at my internship, and of course,
service to God's world through the volunteer opportunities
available here. I have no doubt that I am a better person
for my time at CUA." |

History Major
Being a proud student here at the Catholic University
of America is just GLORIOUS! Especially living in the
Nation's Capital, we can fulfill our mission and our vocation.
John Paul II said the following, "Our Vocation is to Love!"
So our vocation is simply unbelievable, which can be completed
here in the Nation's Capital. With outstanding professors,
who actually take time out of their busy schedules and
actually make sure that you understand the material, offering
study groups during the evening and even offer you to
go to their houses for dinner; it shows that even our
professors and faculty are carrying out their vocation.
As students, we are really one big happy family. It's
a place like Cheers where Everybody knows your Name, and
not by our Social Security Number. St. Francis of Assisi
said, "Preach the Gospel at all times, and use words when
necessary!" And here at CUA the students, the faculty,
and staff both carry out the vocation of the Church and
to spread the Gospel through our actions; it lines out
the equation of a Catholic Education here at CUA. We simply
try to make a difference and to care for everyone in this
capital and at this university because we are truly one
big happy family. |

The Catholic University of America is much more than an
institution of higher learning; it is an institution of
higher responsibility, character, and leadership. In every
area of study, students are given the opportunity to serve
and change the world around them. Students are encouraged
to step out of the crowd and stand up for justice, life,
and truth. As a Catholic university, this school strives
to fulfill the Catholic social mission by providing students
with the knowledge and faith to make a difference. |

At CUA the Catholic mission is integrated into every aspect
university life. As a community we constantly help each
other reach new personal and spiritual goals simultaneously
with our academic goals. Inside and out of class students
here are asked to look deeper into the impact of their
actions by both professors and peers so that they will
become the best person they can be. There are plenty of
opportunities for spiritual involvement through service,
prayer and even recreation making CUA a wonderfully supportive
place to grow into a Catholic adult. |

The Catholic education and teachings at the Catholic University
of America are truly amazing and one of a kind. The Catholic
education and teaching here truly helps individuals grow
in a religous aspect, but also it helps them grow by promoting
community outreach values that are essential in everyday
life. The Catholic Education and teachings here, also
open and unite many people whatever there faith or idealogical
background may be. With that said the Catholic education
provides the individuals who attend the Catholic University
of America the neccessary tools to become leaders in society
that can truly make a difference. |

When I first visited Catholic University as a high school
senior, what really struck me was the sense of community
that CUA seemed to offer. People seemed to know each other,
remarkable for a big university. It really drew me in,
and in the end it's what brought me here. What is the
glue that holds this community together? It's the Catholic
mission of our university. I truly believe that Catholic
University goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure
that our mission is achieved. Our school is really like
no other. You find people that care- really care. Being
in a Catholic environment makes you strengthen your values
and grow in your faith to become a better Christian. And
the best part about it is that you're not alone- the community
that is Catholic University is there. There's really nothing
like it! |

Here at Catholic we are taught more then just math, science
or english, we are taught valuable life lessons through
a strong catholic identity present on campus. The values
we learn here are taken with us into the community through
our careers, families, and friends. We take pride in being
disciples of Christ, and work for justice and love. Here
at Catholic we are taught to care, which is the first
step in making a real difference. |

Here at Catholic I have had the opportunity to educate
myself in multiple fields while working to achieve the
social skills necessary for life. Unfortunately, at some
other universities students are merely learning how to
put the right answers down for a test, but when it comes
to knowing right and wrong in the moral sense students
remain ignorant. I have never had to worry about that
at The Catholic University of America because the mission
of the school extends beyond the classroom and spills
out into the community. That mission is to seek truth
in all its forms. This means encountering the truth of
the Gospels, the truth in the dignity of all human life,
and the truth about what it means to love one another
as our neighbor. When all is said and done I will probably
forget the most of the information I needed to pass my
classes, but I will never forget the life lessons instilled
at Catholic. That is what makes me a better person, and
that is what makes Catholic the best University. |
